How to Create recovery scenario in UFT


The first step in creation of recovery scenario is to open Recovery Scenario Manager in QTP using path Resources - > Recovery Scenario Manager


After opening the Recovery Scenario Manager, click on New Scenario button to create a new recovery scenario.



After clicking on New Scenario button in above step a setup wizard will open which will guide you through all the steps of recovery scenario. The first screen will be the recovery scenario wizard welcome screen as shown in below screenshot. Click on Next button in welcome screen.



After clicking the Next button on welcome screen, Select the Trigger Event which will start the recovery operation. You need to select one of the options by selecting the radio button and click on Next.



After selecting the Trigger event, the next window will be for specification depending on the option you have selected for trigger event. For e.g. if Pop-up Window is selected then you need to specify the window title which will help QTP to identify it. If Object State option is selected you need to specify the object which you want to use.

Use the hand pointer and select the window which you want to work upon in recovery operation.



After selecting the window using the hand pointer, the Window title will be filled. Click on Next.



Now Specify the Recovery operations you want to perform when trigger event occurs. You will get a window with Recovery Operations. If there is no operation then click on Next which will provide you operation type can be performed when trigger event occurs.

After choosing the operation type, select the keyboard or mouse operation as specified in below screenshot. You can also specify any other button using the hand pointer if it is not specified in the window. After selecting the operation click on Next button.

Operation will be listed in the Recovery operations list as shown below. Click on Next button in below window. Make sure to uncheck the "Add Another recovery operation" check box before clicking Next button.



After completing above steps, You need to select the post recovery Test run options as shown in the below screenshot. After selecting the option click on Next.


Provide the Name of the recovery scenario and description. Click on Finish. Now your recovery scenario is ready to use for this test.
